Cook Healthier and Lose Weight! | There is lots of health talk these days about eating and cooking healthier. Many sources say that eating more locally grown, organic foods are much better for the body than those disgusting processed foods. Cooking foods using a healthy preparation is the best way to cook for yourself or your family. I will get into these cooking methods later in this article.

So what are some of the healthy cooking methods? I would like to start out with my favorite and that is steaming. Steaming is the use of very hot steam to cook your foods. It is healthy because it does not involve cooking with fat or grease. Steaming is a relatively quick cooking method as well. If you choose to steam you food all the equipment you will need is a heat source, such as your oven, and a kettle with a slotted wire basket in it. Steamer equipment can be purchased at lots of places such as Wal-Mart, Target, Shopko, and Farm and Fleet. And, the really cool part is steamers are cheap to purchase.

Another healthy cooking method is baking. Baking is a cooking method that involves cooking food with a dry hot heat without the use of fats. All kinds of items can be cooked using the baking method such as baked chicken and baked fish. All you need for this cooking method is an oven. If you like to bake any type of pastries or custards, you can do so by baking. Try baking your favorite fish tonight!

Try this Healthy Recipe:

Baked Walleye

Ingredients Include:Serves 4

4 Walleye filletsSalt and Pepper to taste2 tbsp butter1 lemon, very thinly sliced

Cooking Procedure:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Using a greased baking sheet, lay walleye fillets on sheet separated from each fillet.Salt and pepper each of the fish portions as desired.Dab 1/2 tbsp butter on each fillet.Place two of the thin sliced lemon on each fish portion.Bake until fish is 145 degrees or is flaking apart.Serve right away.
